Easy Park A/S has significantly reduced the challenges of running out of petty cash to pay for parking tickets by introducing a digital parking fee service. Thanks to Easy Parking drivers are able to purchase their parking tickets via their mobile phones. Virtual parking tickets are easily purchased by sending an SMS to Easy Park.

Solution

The Service also permit users to extend the parking time via the mobile without having to return to the car. 15 minutes before the ticket runs out users receive a text message enabling them to extend their parking. Refunds are provided in case a user returns to the car before the parking ticket expires - a service that is not provided with use of conventional parking tickets.

Results

Parking officers can easily tell whether cars are affiliated with Easy Park and for how long the car is permitted to stay by scanning a barcode sticker in windshield of the car. Users subscribing to the service pay a small handling fee to get started. Parking can be handled by a credit card transaction each time users make use of the service or by running an account that accumulates ones parking fees. 97% of Copenhagen is covered by Easy Park and 15% of all purchased parking tickets are handled by Easy Park. The service has also been introduced in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Germany.
