Challenge
The city of Tampere is revising its strategy and wants to involve citizens from the very start to get a wide variety of views and opinions on the future of the city.
Solution
Citizens were invited to provide ideas through a web service; this included the possibility to enter your own proposal as free-form answers as well as a peer evaluation tool to prioritise the proposals of other people and an automated analysis tool to combine qualitative and quantitative input given by the participants.
Results
Approximately 4000 people were directly invited to participate in the project. Additionally, the city displayed an open invitation to participate on its website and on other relevant websites. Approximately 1500 people participated in the project. This resulted in more than 2 200 proposals and 35 000 proposal evaluations.
