Challenge

In recent years we have seen an ever growing process of automation of irrigation systems: The complexity of these systems, at first expertly handled by the installers, often generated problems difficult for conventional control units to solve. The Toro AG Satellite control unit was designed specifically to meet these requirements. Completeness, flexibility and easy programming defines this project.

Solution

• Completeness: 30 independent programs (including in cyclic mode), 10 irrigation start times per program, timed and volumetric control, filter backwashing control, sensor control, possibility of programming and remote contral via mobile phone or PC. • Flexibility: Agricultural, Commercial and residential irrigation systems are not easy to standardise and hence a flexible control instrument able to adapt to the individual system requirements is needed. The Satellite is a modular control unit both in terms of thenumber of stations (from 16 to 96) and in terms of performance - the basic principle is similar to a fully developed programmer to which you can add sensors and remote controls whenever you like. • Easy programming: despite all the functions and the expansion possibilities, Satellite remains an easy-to-program control unit; it consists of a practical dial and five easy buttons. • 16 stations or 8+8 stations for backwashing, expandable to up to 96 stations (using a slave after 32 zones) with modules of 8 stations each. • Water budget from 5% to 250% • Possibility of having numerous input sensors (Iuxmeter, anemometer, rain sensor, humidity sensor, flow sensor, flow measuring sensor, temperature sensor) and setting the operating delay. You can also have a pre-assembled version of the system consisting of Satellite + Icod Plus + Sat- Modem as decoder solution.

Results

At last a very easy and efficient solution. There are 4 models: 2 until 48 stations (one with Sat-Modem and one without Sat-Modem, but with the possibility to install it), 2 from 48 to 96 stations (one with Sat-Modem and one without Sat-Modem, but with the possibility to install it). For all models the connection of the electric valve to the decoder has, thanks to the Icod Plus, only two wire (plus ground), regardless of the number of stations in the field.
