Challenge
On the occasion of the celebration of the Creative Cities in Imagination Society: the 5th Congress of Creativity and Innovation developed in the city of Cáceres, held from the 12th and 14th November 2009 we were asked, by the city council, to develop a participatory project with Cáceres citizens which would specifically engage young people in a creative and innovative manner.
Solution
Gymkana Móvil Cáceres is an audiovisual-creative mapping project of the city of Cáceres that interviews and gives voices to the citizens through an urban gymkana, developed by teenagers using mobile phones to execute the routes; which registers and geographically locates innovative and imaginative processes that are made by people, companies and associations.
Results
During 2 days about 100 students, from different high schools of Cáceres, mapped the city by interviewing citizens about creativity and innovation, and developing different activities related to imaginative solutions. Each day 8 groups performed a route using a Nokia N95 mobile phone to record the interviews and take pictures, as well as send and receive sms and mms, scan QR codes and use Google maps and GPS.
The result is a 3 minutes micro video, explaining the experience, and a web site with all the routes, pictures and interviews developed by the young participants.
