Capacitor Foundation - Project iCarYou

"When we heard first of Living Labs Global we thought this would be a professional network organization that could help us building relationships. But, actually, it is more than that. Living Labs Global reaches out to a wide international range of parties like companies (regardless of size), research centers, city or regional governments, etc., and it tries to find the right relationships that could or even should be matched with each other in order to export innovative solutions throughout the international community. This is the real strength of Living Labs Global and this is why we (as a startup company trying to implement a brilliant idea) can benefit from it.
Living Labs Global provided us with the opportunity to present our product to a forum of parties who are interested in solving mobility issues of all kinds. At the Matchmaking Summit in Hamburg this year, Capacitor found a partner who will help us in implementing iCarYou in Germany. Furthermore we got in contact with people from the city of Sant Cugat (Spain, Barcelona) and together we are currently exploring the feasibility of exporting iCarYou to this area.
We would like to build a sustainable relationship with Living Labs Global. In the first instance to use the platform in order to export iCarYou internationally, in the long-term we might become a strategic partner who in turn helps innovative ideas to find their way to the market."
Dirk Tangemann, Member of the Board, Capacitor Foundation - Project iCarYou
The Capacitor Foundation realizes sustainable energy initiatives. The current initiative iCarYou connects people by means of a network through technology. iCarYou creates the opportunity to make empty car seats available to others. Traffic will flow more dynamically and being mobile is no longer solely associated with owning a car but with having the right mobile device. iCarYou - there is always a friend of a friend who can take you home!

22@ Barcelona Innovation District

"22@Barcelona joined Living labs in 2008 looking forward to increase the awareness of the Barcelona strategy into the knowledge based economy. Since then, we have been working with the organization to reach this goal, preparing very successful events where entrepreneurs from different countries have been able to learn what is going on in Barcelona and the other way around. Good contacts have been made thanks to this network and the effort of the professional team of the organization. We expect to continue under this direction for a long time."
Jordi Sacristán, Marketing and Communication Director, 22@Barcelona

This initiative is also a project of urban refurbishment and a new model of city providing a response to the challenges posed by the knowledge-based society.
Ajuntament de Sant Cugat del Valles

"It has been a great and beneficial experience being part of the Living Labs Global association. It gave us an overall view on how a full range of cities and regions within Europe were looking for a similar mobile solution. Often, there is more a legal aspect rather than technological. A clear example would be implications related to mobile payment.
The benefit of being part of such an organization is the opportunity to work with other cities and regions across Europe along with being part of some joint initiatives. To have the opportunity to meet companies of excellence, be part of the networking and the various events within the year.
The Readiness research is a very good qualitative indicator that helped us to understand our weaknesses in the mobile field. We made the appropriate changes, so that it would be, a competitive and an attractive version in other cities and regions. It is a good diagnosis"

Siine

"Siine was lucky to start working with Living Labs Global very soon after moving from research and development into the practicalities of startup life and business development. We found that apart from opening our eyes to the breadth of possible collaborations around Europe and Asia, Living Labs also gave us a good feel for how to view collaboration, testing, and pilot schemes as part of the process of developing technology rather than "chores". In our case the individuals at Living Labs Global have also been active in setting up talks and meetings, as well as giving disinterested advice and assessment.
Siine has taken part in various Living Labs Global Events and Matchmaking Summits. These have been among the best conference-style events which our company has attended. Their strong emphasis on interaction rather than structuring and organizing every minute of the attendees agendas resulted in real interaction and exploration of possibilities and collaboration.
Siine is still working with Living Labs as a major part of their development process. Contacts made in Living Labs events are still involved in our project, but most of all we are running a pilot scheme. The results will be there for everyone to see when the product launches in the market and makes the competition look like old news."
Ed Maklouf, Founder Partner, Siine
Siine is a highly innovative software startup in the semantic web space. Backed by it’s groundbreaking research into human communication, conceptualization and agreement processes (bio-logic); Siine has developed an application that enables people to make logistical arrangements despite speaking different languages - a capability with many applications in both the non-profit and commercial sectors. While it is possible to describe the Siine application as "social scheduling", the true value of Siine is it´s core concept of "intelligent messages" - messages which carry their meaning with them. A distributed team of the highest quality coders and designers combine to improve and adapt the core technology, designs, and algorithms that make Siine work. Siine is in talks with major carriers and developers worldwide to bring the product to market.
